Rated Spironolactone (Aldactone) for Acne Report. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. DO NOT TAKE SPIRONOLACTONE! I was given it for acne, beginning with a 25mg dose and slowly increasing. Spironolactone, USP is practically insoluble in water, soluble in ethyl acetate and alcohol, freely soluble in benzene and in chloroform, slightly soluble in menthanol and very slightly soluble in fixed oils. Spironolactone is practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, and freely soluble in benzene and in chloroform. Inactive ingredients include calcium sulfate, corn starch, flavor, hypromellose, iron oxide, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, povidone, and titanium dioxide. Thiazide diuretics, like hydrochlorothiazide; triamterene, are contraindicated in patients with known thiazide diuretic hypersensitivity. According to the manufacturer, hydrochlorothiazide is specifically contraindicated in patients with sulfonamide hypersensitivity. Spironolactone is a diuretic, also known as a 'water tablet'. It will make you go to the toilet more often to pass urine. The most common side-effect is a mild stomach upset. Oral contraceptives. Progesterone-only oral contraceptives are not effective in the management of androgen-mediated skin conditions. Combined oral contraceptives contain two hormones, ethinyloestrodiol 20–35 mcg (an oestrogen) and a progesterone. CaroSpir is not therapeutically equivalent to Aldactone tablets. For an equivalent dose, CaroSpir results in 15 to 37% higher serum concentration compared to Aldactone tablets.
